So this month was all about trying new things, deep diving on topics that you know minimal about, and adopting a curious mindset. I actioned on two of these and found that the third was innate, as long as the proper amount of activation energy is applied. There are things that you learn in elementary school, that to be quite frank, are bullshit and you will never need. I can’t remember the last time I picked up a protractor to measure if a triangle was obtuse. But on the flip side, do you remember all that confusing shit from chemistry when the letters and numbers were forced to mate by an addition sign resulting in magic? Now that somehow managed to come full circle. There are three things that are required for a chemical reaction to occur, which I would like to refer to as a “spark” moment.

  1. Molecules must collide (your interest and strengths must meet)

  2. Activation energy- molecules must collide with enough energy to begin to break the old bonds so new bonds can form (your interests and strengths must meet and be fueled by enough energy/passion to break down your limiting beliefs and bread confidence to thrive)

  3. Molecules must collide with the correct orientation (your interest and skills must meet with the right intention)

“spark” moments are when we are exerting our energy on something that aligns with our interests and heightens our strengths, so much so that we walk away feeling supercharged, rather than depleted. Our lives are filled with so much noise and chaos, that sometimes we forget to recognize these spark moments and take note of the reactants involved that make us feel invigorated. I often falsely attribute my lethargic days to an excess of activities, when really it is the lack of doing whatever the hell lights me up and fuels my soul.

An explorative mind is what my mind, body, soul craves. I feed off peanut butter and curiosity… curiosity to know more about others and how they interact with the world. No matter what you do, who you are, and where you come from, everyone feels the same longing for fulfillment, meaning, and deeper purpose. I can assure you that this will be much more difficult to find if you don’t allow yourself to do more of what excites you. Think of it this way, you were given certain strengths that are your unique differentiators which make up your river. This ever-flowing river hosts energy and power that creates a current that will lead you to abundant places if you allow it. But when you choose to silence what makes you unique and spend your time following the actions of others without independent thought, it is like swimming upstream…exhausting, draining, and depleting.

For me, adopting a curious mindset and an explorative mind felt like second nature. I had the chance to harness my interests and strengths, fueled by passion and energy, which led to an abundance of spark moments. And that is the whole goal of Confidently Creative: experimentation. Experimentation with various kinds of creativity to find out what does and doesn’t spark you, so you can walk away knowing exactly what you need to do to be your own source of renewable energy. Swim with your current and see all the places that you may go.
